Vinny selling his wears
Audience members and viewers of the last Jonathan Ross show were left baffled when celebrity chef / singer / ballroom dancer / former sports personality and actor Vinnie Jones simultaneously promoted four books, two films and a new fragrance in a 5 minute endorsement thinly disguised as informative television.
One exasperated audience member said afterwards,“It just became more and more confusing, i could only follow half of the interview but then the stories of the action film, the period drama, the autobiography, the biography and the crime thriller and the factual information from the book about the amazon spiders all began to mix together in my head and now i have no idea what i’m meant to go out and buy”.
Broadcasting authority OfCom is now investigating the matter after a record number of complaints demanding a rerun of the show as they failed to decipher all the products that were pitched. “this is a matter we are taking very seriously. It seems to be growing more commonplace and with the number of advertisements between these shows viewers are finding it increasingly difficult to remember all they have to buy.” It is expected that OfCom will propose viewers watch the shows with a shopping list and pen in the future and to make it mandatory for broadcas networks to issue live audiences with pens and paper to assist them in documenting all specific product details.
