Nothing to Worry About as Every Front Page Carries Different Story

Newspaper Stand

The general public can breath another sigh of relief today as yet again, every newspaper runs with a different lead story.

“First thing to do when you pop to your local shop for milk each morning is glance at the front pages of the beautifully laid out newspapers and breath a sigh of relief each day that doesn’t see them lead with the same story”.

This is according to professor James Jumbean of Oxford University, who believes there is “nothing to worry about” until all front pages display the same event. “Tsunami,” said Jumbean. “Every paper covered it. Icelandic volcano, Concord crashing. Whenever all of the papers lead with the same thing, then you know it’s serious. You didn’t wake up on September 12th 2001 to see one paper lead with ‘Budgie addicted to Coronation Street’ did you?”

Jumbean is not the first to notice this and it is believed that major news sources, for years, have been strengthening their stories by ‘piggybacking’ and asking each other to run with the same story to make it ‘newsworthy’. “To think that more than one paper would even consider reporting on a has-been, boy-band member reuniting with a has-been, boy-band is absolutely preposterous. So to see the story appear on the front page of two major news sources on the one morning is in no way a coincidence”

These are typical examples of piggybacking. If one paper says Jedward broke his/they’re leg/legs it will get slated for delivering irrelevant news. But if two papers run with it then shame on those papers who don’t think Jedwards leg/legs is/are in any way, newsworthy”.
