Spy Wife Swap
The pilot episode of new Channel Four series ‘Spy Wife Swap’ has been ditched by commissioning editors following a lack of proficient research. A spokesperson for Channel Four, Clyde Goode said; “We were just doing our usual knee-jerk reaction to the more controversial aspects of society when we realised we had no idea, story or research model. All we had was two airline tickets to Moscow and New York with a stopover in Tel Aviv and we had permission to film on the runway in Tel Aviv so, naturally we thought we had a show for spy handovers.”
Not to settle for a simple spy swap the broadcaster decided to go one better and turn the show into a spy wife swap. Goode explains, “We had images of bond girls being traded and thought that would look really sexy but we were proved wrong. As difficult as it is to find out information about spies it is next to impossible to find out information about their spouses.”
Another major flaw in the project seems to have been the fact that most of the real spies were beautiful unattached women and it also proved difficult to find wives to swap. “There’s not a great need for the traditional spy anymore. That whole James Bond era is well and truly dusted. It’s all done with the internet and usb keys now. Nowhere near the same level of drama.”
